The Quaid Real Estate organization is the largest and longest established real estate agency in tropical North Queensland. The business was started in 1949 in the Port Douglas/Mossman region by George Quaid Jnr. In those early years the Quaid name was synonymous with sales of sugar cane farms, cattle stations, undeveloped coastal lands, Port Douglas properties and auction sales of mining equipment and farm machinery. In the early 1970's the business established its headquarters in Cairns and Ian Beattie became Managing Director. During the 1970's and 1980's Quaid Real Estate developed a strong commercial bias and a reputation as leading marketers of home unit developments and residential lands estates. The company also established a team of residential salespeople with particular interest in properties located in the inner-city, on hillslopes and at beachside locations. In the early 1990's Stacey Quaid (George's oldest son) was appointed Managing Director. During this period we quickly re-immerged as the number one auctioneering force in the region - a position Quaid Auctioneers has retained ever since. In 2002, the business was further expanded by the formation of Colliers International (Cairns), which operates as a partner office handling all of the commercial sales and leasing, project marketing and Commercial property management previously operated under the Quaid umbrella business.

In 2008, after a 10 year partnership between Stacey Quaid and Ian Beattie, Stacey Quaid became sole principal and took full control of the business. Ian is still involved in the company marketing of special development projects, as well as sales of larger commercial and rural properties and development sites Stacey Quaid is Group Director and oversees the day-to-day operations of all of our business streams. He is a Licensed Real Estate Agent and, as the firms principal Auctioneer, is qualified to value plant and equipment and other chattels.

We are professional Real Estate agents and consequently do not develop or trade property. We are marketers and negotiators, not rental agents/property managers. With so many avenues to market properties today we have to make sure we target the right group of buyers for your property - finding that rare purchaser is best suited (and motivated to pay a premium). In addition to our own databases of purchasers, we ensure prominent exposure and targeted marketing on Internet portals ( this can be seen anywhere and at any time), as well as print advertising whether it be Newspaper or Magazines - to attract the emotional purchaser that MUST HAVE your property. We make sure we have every avenue covered to find the right buyer and get the best result.)

To whom it may concern, 7th. March, 2014. Well, this week after three months of continuous effort Virginia Byers has enabled me to purchase a unit in Mantra Esplanade, Cairns - a building I prefer for investment. During this time I made offers on two separate units which after negotiation were both accepted by the owners but surprisingly withdrawn from the market at the very last minute. Very few agents would go on to other campaigns rather than persist with me further following these disappointments. However not to be beaten, even after I became reluctant to continue Virginia surveyed dozens of owners, totally on her own initiative, and found people who were willing to sell “at a price”. She then mounted a campaign on their behalf resulting in me finally agreeing to pay what is undoubtedly the highest price paid for a similar unit in the building.
