Hockingstuart Ballarat commenced as Douglass and Valpied in August 2003 as a result of the current directors Tony Douglass and Tim Valpied – both Ballarat born and bred – recognising the need for a progressive, client-focused real estate agency to service property owners in Ballarat and the surrounding areas.
At the beginning of 2005, the directors took a decision to become a franchised office of the highly successful hockingstuart group because they recognised the alliance would provide strong links with the Melbourne market and add considerable value to clients through exposing their property to buyers outside the Ballarat region.
When it was established in August 2003, Hocking Stuart – then Douglass and Valpied – had a staff of the three: the two directors and a receptionist in the company’s refurbished premises located at 729 Sturt Street Ballarat. In less than two years business has grown to the point where staff numbers had increased to 23.

Now one of the top sales performers within the entire Hocking Stuart Franchise and with numerous awards including 2008 REIV Rural Marketing Award (for the sale of “Yuulong”) his expertise in the sale of country homes is second to none.
